What We Collect
Traina may collect account details such as email address, display name, profile photo, workout preferences, coach voice settings, subscription status, referral activity, planned workouts, workout history, and social activity you choose to create.
Depending on the features you use, Traina may also process workout movement signals, rep counts, form feedback, device permissions, app diagnostics, referral links, shared program participation, messages, and payment or subscription status from app-store or payment providers.
Camera and Workout Data
Traina uses your device camera for live coaching, form feedback, rep counting, optional workout recordings, and body check-ins. Camera access is used only when you start one of those camera-based features. Some processing may happen on device, and some features may later use secure cloud processing if you enable them.
Camera frames and body movement analysis can reveal sensitive information about your body, home, surroundings, and fitness habits. We use this data to provide coaching, improve reliability, protect verified workout results from abuse, and operate features you choose.
Shake to Report is optional and available to signed-in users. After you choose to report an issue, Traina captures a still image of the visible app screen and shows you a preview. You may remove it before sending. If submitted, your summary, deal-breaker response, app and device diagnostics, account email, and optional screenshot are emailed to support@traina.io through our email delivery provider. The screenshot is not written to Traina’s feedback database or key-value store, but remains in the delivered support email under our support retention practices. Screens can contain private information, so review the preview before sending.
A body check-in may save height, scale weight, and an optional tape-measured waist that you enter. During the Progress Avatar Beta, a supported iPhone may also save derived regional widths, sample quality, an approximate body-shape model, and a provisional waist-circumference estimate created on your device from front, back, and both profile views. These outputs help compare your own check-ins; they are not medical scans or tape-equivalent measurements.
Raw camera frames, person masks, and depth maps are discarded after processing. Any experimental body-fat calculation is separate, requires an explicit adult confirmation and formula choice, and is shown as an estimate range. Signed-in users may privately sync derived avatar and estimate parameters with their check-in, but they are never posted to the feed automatically.
After a body check-in, you may opt in to help improve measurement accuracy. If you opt in while signed in, Traina may sync derived scan measurements, camera and depth method information, scan quality signals, corrected height or scale weight, and an optional tape-measured waist you enter. Raw camera frames, photos, audio, and video are not included in this contribution. This choice is off by default.
Recordings
If you choose to record a workout, the recording may be saved, shared, or analyzed according to the options you select. You should not record other people without their permission.
Recordings may include the full visible app experience, including camera view, coaching overlays, rep counts, feedback, timer, controls, and other on-screen context.
How We Use Information
We use information to operate the app, personalize coaching, count reps, track progress, create plans, manage accounts and subscriptions, support referrals, improve safety, prevent abuse, and develop better fitness features.
Website Analytics
On traina.io, we use a website-only PostHog project to understand page visits, referral domains, campaign tags, sections viewed, and app-store link clicks. This is kept separate from app analytics. Session recording and automatic click capture are disabled.
Website analytics use a short-lived anonymous visit ID held only in page memory. We may store a temporary website experiment assignment in local storage and a same-site cookie so you keep seeing the same landing-page message during a test. We do not create named website visitor profiles. Your browser may also store your light or dark appearance preference locally.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us run Traina, process authentication, support payments, deliver messages, host data, analyze app performance, or comply with law.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
Health Information and HIPAA
Traina is a consumer fitness app and is not designed to collect protected health information for a healthcare provider. Unless we separately agree in writing, Traina is not acting as a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate.
Consumer Health Privacy
Fitness goals, workout history, body movement data, and recordings may be considered consumer health data or sensitive personal information under some privacy laws. Where required, we will honor applicable rights to access, delete, correct, withdraw consent, or appeal a privacy decision.
Your Choices
You can use Traina as a guest, create an account, update profile details, adjust preferences, cancel Premium, and choose what to share. You can also revoke camera or network permissions in your device settings.
Signed-in users can permanently delete their account from the Account section in the app. This removes the Traina account, profile, synced workout and body-check data, social posts and interactions, follows, room participation and messages, and workout recordings stored by Traina on that device. App-store subscriptions must be managed separately in the relevant store settings.
You can contact us to request access, correction, or other privacy help. Limited de-identified or legally required records may be retained for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, subscriptions, or fraud prevention.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system is perfect. Keep your device and account secure, and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Children
Traina is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as Traina changes. The latest version will be posted at traina.io/privacy.
